About Kafni Glacier Trek
Kumaon region, one of the most breathtaking areas of Himalaya, brings pools of trekking trails for the adventure junkies. The lofty mountains, remote villages, unbeatable charm, and pristine scenic beauty of Kumaon captivate the adventurers and even those who are new to trekking. One trek that leads to the remote regions of Uttarakhand, and offers the opportunity to camp on huge grasslands, then it has to be the Kafni Glacier trek. The landscapes keep on changing at every turn; the trail throws many challenges, from beautiful river crossing and sparkling waterfall on the way from Dhakuri to Dwali, to getting lost in the forests en route to Phurkia to the breathtaking view of Nanda Khat peak towering above. The final destination of the trek, Kafni Glacier (3,860 meters), can be accessed during May -Jun and September-November. One should avoid trekking during the monsoon season as the trails are slippery.
More or less Kafni Glacier route follows the same as the Pindari Glacier Trek, but the best part of this trek is that trekkers will encompass more regions. The trek commences from Song, after that, the trail leads to Khati, Loharkhet, Phurkia, Dwali, to reach Kafni Glacier. Spectacular view of Pindari Glacier, lush alpine meadows with sprinkled wildflowers, and snow clad peaks kissing the sky, accompanies the trekkers when they walk on the meandering unpaved roads. It's hard to define the beauty of this trek. The trek is going to be a little strenuous, but the view of the Nandakot (6860 m) and Nandabhnar (6236 m) from the Kafni glacier is worth all the ache and bruises.
