Itinerary -
Day 01: DELHI TO DIBRUGARH
On arrival in Dibrugarh, our representative will meet you and assist you with check in at the hotel. Post lunch, we shall visit tea plantation and factory. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 02: DIBRUGARH TO MON [ NAGALAND ]
Today, early in the morning, we shall drive to Mon, which will take almost 5-6 hours to reach. After going through checking formalities at the border of Nagaland, we will enter the state. Our first visit will be to Phuktong village, which has two Morungs (men’s dormitories). Later we shall visit Angh’s (chief’s) residence. Overnight stay at the hotel in Mon.
Day 03: MON
We will spend two full days exploring Mon, which is home to Konyak tribe who have been headhunters in the past. We shall also visit Shangnyu village, which is a prominent village in Mon district ruled by the Chief Angh. The highlight of the place is a wooden monument that measures 8 feet in height and 12 feet in breadth, and is believed to have been constructed by heavenly angels. Memorial stones are also found in front of the Angh’s Palace that indicate a cordial relationship once existed between the Shangnyu and the Ahom Kings of Assam.
Day 04: MON
Later, we will visit Sangha to witness the headhunting trophies and houses that are constructed in the authentic Konyak tradition with palm leaves roofs and the protruding main pillars. In the evening, we will arrange for a cultural programme for you. Overnight stay at the hotel in Mon.
Day 05: MON TO JORHAT
Today, we shall drive to Jorhat in Assam from Mon. En route we shall visit Sibsagar, which is a historical place . Overnight stay at the hotel in Jorhat.
Day 06: JORHAT TO MAJULI ISLAND
We shall drive to Nimati Ghat today to catch a ferry to Majuli. It will take 1.30 Hrs to reach Majuli Islands. On arrival, lunch will be served and post it, we shall visit the tribal Mishing Village to witness Auniati Satra/ Mask Making Center. In the evening, we will enjoy cultural programmes. Overnight stay at Bamboo Hut in Majuli.
Day 07: MAJULI TO KAZIRANGA
After spending sometime in the local market in Majuli, we will head out for Kaziranga. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Day 08: KAZIRANGA
Early in the morning, we will go for jeep safari inside the national park. Another jeep safari will be scheduled for us in the afternoon. In the evening relax in the resort and stay overnight.
Day 09: KAZIRANGA TO KOHIMA
Today, we will head out to Dimapur, which is said to be the home of Kachari tribe, who ruled in Nagaland in 13th century AD. In Dimapur, one can find the ruins that reflect the glory of Kachari tribe and give evidence of a culture that probably had a touch of Hinduism. Apart from the monoliths, Dimapur contains other ruins of temples, embankments and baths. Overnight stay at the hotel in Dimapur.
Day 10: VISIT HORNBILL FESTIVAL
Day 11: VISIT HORNBILL FESTIVAL
Day 12: KOHIMA - PFUTSERO - KOHIMA
Post early breakfast today, we will drive to Pfutsero, which is 70 km away from Kohima. En route, we shall visit Chakesang tribal village and then after exploring Pfutsero, return to Kohima
Day 13: KHONOMA VILLAGE - KOHIMA VILLAGE
After breakfast, we will visit Khonoma Village, Kohima Village and World War II Museum in Kohima City .
Day 14: DIMAPUR - KOLKATA
Today, we shall leave for Dimapur Airport to board a flight to Kolkata/ Delhi.
