Transport Options (Delhi – Manali/Aut – Delhi)

Aut is located 70kms before Manali on Chandigarh - Manali highway. For travel from Delhi to Manali & back, one can choose between air, rail & road. For air travel, the closest airport is Bhuntar (Kullu) airport. There are a couple of flights that link this airport to Delhi airport. Train travel though not very popular is available to cover a certain distance. One can either take a train to Pathankot or Jogindernagar (narrow gauge). From both these places one will need to drive to Manali.

There are frequent Public Transport buses including Volvos available from Delhi to Manali that cost about Rs. 1300 per person. They take about 15 hrs to cover the distance. A private vehicle could also be arranged for if you require the same.

Weather Details

This trek is organized in winters between end Dec & Mar when the region has had good snowfall. Contrary to popular belief, winters are a good time to be in the mountains if one is equipped properly. Most locals inhabiting higher reaches of the mountains don’t mind the problems associated with snowfall and seem to have a good time during these months. Also there are lots of local festivals in these months. In these months weather is generally clear most of the days. Day time is pleasantly warm with one getting to enjoy sitting out in the sun and temperatures would be around 12-17 °C. Evenings are quite cold and one would need to be inside a tent/room or sitting outside next to fire with proper winter clothes. The evening temperatures will be around 0 to 5 °C. Nights can be very cold with temperatures in the range of -5 to 0 °C.

Please keep in mind that the above information is not exact and does not account for sudden changes. Whatever the temperatures and conditions rest assured we will be prepared to handle it with ease as we use equipment of very high specifications.

Duration: 3 Days

Season: Dec-Feb

Grade: Moderate

Region: Garhwal (Uttarakhand)

Description

This is a probably the finest weekend trek around Delhi and NCR if you want to experience snow and sub zero temperatures. The camping experience in the snow and walking up to the top of this mountain are the main attraction of this venture. There are beautiful meadows and thick jungles along the trail offering numerous scenic camping locations.
The climbing gradient while going up is moderate with a few steep patches in between making this trek suitable for all including enterprising and moderately adventurous families. At Nagtibba top you will have the whole place covered in thick sheet of snow, just for yourself with just an odd Gujjar/shepherd sharing the magnificent views with you. The panorama of the Himalayan snow peaks of Garhwal and Himachal region is sure to keep you busy with the camera. Some of the famous peaks that are visible from here include the Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Srikanth and Black peak.
