Description

Situated in the eastern part of Ladakh, the Hemis National Park lies at an elevation of around 3000 meters. Streaching from Markha to Rumbak this area is filled with physical features. Created in 1981 this national park conserves a unique flora and fauna contained within the rocky soil cover supporting a poor vegetation growth yet copious amounts of berries which have highest contents of vitamin C.

Being a cold desert the river banks are mostly sandy as a lot of silt flows down the streams. The climate of the area is sub-arctic to arctic with scarce rainfall during summers and heavy snowfall during winters which results in sub zero temperatures in the valley. Summers generally last 3 months i.e. from July to September, which forms the window for stocking for the winters. These Extreme terrains of the Hemis National Park form the habitat for many rare and precious species of the higher Himalayas, amongst these are the mysterious Snow Leopard, Ibex, Tibetan Antelope, Blue Sheep, Marmot, Tibetan Hare etc. Few of the rare birds and pheasants found are the Snow Patridge, Golden Oriole, Snow Cock, Golden Eagle, Horned Lark, Red Billed Chuff etc

Filled with thick bushes of wild roses this trek moves through undulating landscapes of the Ladakh region of the Northern Himalayas. Do this venture for having a lifetime experience of outdoors and adventure.
